MFA is an added layer of security to verify the user’s identity when signing into an application and makes your account more secure. The MFA activation is being mandated by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges and all 34 Washington colleges in the system will enable MFA for faculty and staff.
Instructions to set up your MFA:
- Go to https://myaccount.ctclink.us/
- Enter your ctcLink ID and password
3. In the next window click the Select button next to a security method for verification. The methods listed will depend on the information you provided during ctcLink account activation or current updates you’ve made since then.
4. Once the security method have been verified, the ctcLink Account Portal (My Apps) page displays.
5. Click the Password Settings tiles to open your Account page.
6. In the Security Methods section, update the various security methods by selecting from the listed options. Follow the prompts to set up or change the method of your choosing.
NOTE: At SVC, we recommend Okta Verify or a physical token as the preferred methods of verification. Okta Verify requires an app to be installed on a mobile phone. If you are unilling or unable to install an app on a mobile phone and want to use a physical security token, please come to the Help Desk (S-152 at MV, H-124A at WIC).
a. For Okta Verify: Once you select Set Up, it will again ask you to verify your password and identity using the same methods in steps 2 and 3 above. Then click Set Up:
b. When prompted use your camera to scan the QR code.
c. Your phone should open the Okta Verify app and set up the connection. Myaccount.ctclink.us should now be on the list with numbers below. The numbers will change every minute or so. This is normal.
7. Once you've completed setting/changing your security methods. Logout of the Account Portal (My Apps) using the carat next to your name in the upper right corner of the screen and selecting Sign Out.
Congratulations! You've successfully updated your MFA settings for ctcLink.
Note: Okta sends out an automated message for these types of changes. Below is an example:
