SimCheck Assistance

Two years ago, Turnitin bought VeriCite and they have replaced it with SimCheck.  SimCheck is a plagiarism detection tool that offers an improved interface and a better repository of documents against which assignments are checked.  VeriCite vs SimCheck feature comparison.

What SimCheck does -  Identifies potential plagiarized or improperly cited text. When you create a Canvas assignment that is SimCheck enabled, the system will compare student submissions against publicly available sources on the internet, commercial articles databases, and papers submitted by other SVC students. SimCheck generates a report showing an overview score as well as a side by side comparison of the matching text and sources. This becomes a good teaching tool because students are able to self-evaluate their work and make corrections as needed.
