Starting June 15, 2020, our telephone system includes several types of handsets.
- Analog telephones are available in many classrooms and hallways. Analog phones do not depend on the Avaya IP Office system. These phone will probably work during a power outage. Analog handsets are recoginizable by the lack of extra buttons.
- Digital telephones are available in many offices. Digital phones depend on the Avaya IP Office system, but they do not depend on building power. These phones might work during a power outage. Digital handsets are grey Avaya 2420.
- Voice over IP (VoIP) telephones are available in many offices. VoIP phones depend on the Avaya IP Office system and also depend on building power. These phones will not work during a power outage. VoIP handsets are J129, J139, J169, and J179.
- Software "phones" are available for installation on any SVC computer. If the computer is off-campus, it requires a VPN connection. The Avaya IX Workplace application allows you to call and check messages much like a regular handset.
